Day 1

Airport - Negombo

Arrival in Colombo where you will be met by a representative of our local agency and taken to your hotel in Negombo.
In the afternoon you will enjoy a two-hour boat trip in Muthurajawela. While navigating through the lagoon, located between Negombo and Colombo, you'll discover nature reserves with specific flora and fauna and the mangrove. You can also learn about the local fishermen and farmers' way of life.
Dinner and night at the 3-star Club Hotel Dolphin (or similar).

Day 2

Negombo – Pinnawala – Dambulla - Sigiriya

You will leave the hotel after breakfast to see the baby elephants at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The orphaned calves were usually abandoned by their mother or their habitat was destroyed through deforestation. You can watch the elephants as they get fed and have a bath in the river.
The next stop on your trip will be Dambulla. The cave-temple complex dating from 1stcentury BC includes five caves used as sanctuaries covered in stunning Buddhist murals.
You will also walk around Dambulla's renowned produce market.

Day 3

Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya

After breakfast you will start the day by climbing to the top of Lion Rock in Sigiriya, where you can see the remains of the Sigiriya fortress. The citadel was built in the 5thcentury AD and overlooks the surrounding valleys.
You will then drive to Polonnaruwa, the second capital of Sri Lanka. While travelling through the countryside around Habanara, you will go on an exciting elephant ride.
You will visit the cultural site of Polonnaruwa on bicycle, since the remains extend over 15 km2. Polonnaruwa became the island's capital from the 10thcentury AD and only remained so for two centuries. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982.

Day 4

Sigiriya - Matale - Madulkelle

You will have an early breakfast and head out to the spice garden in Matale. Here you will learn everything about cinnamon, cloves, ginger, lemongrass, cocoa and many other spices.
This will be followed by a 2 h 30 min walk around the pepper, cocoa and rubber plantations all the way to the Sudu Ganga river, which means “white river”.

Day 5

Madulkelle - Kandy

After breakfast you will go on a hike to explore the plantations and villages of the region.
Then you'll head for Kandy, the last royal capital of the island. It's famous for the legendary relic of the Tooth of Buddha, kept at the Temple of Dalada Maligawa.
To round up the day you will watch traditional dancing that will include fire walking.

Day 6

Kandy - Peradeniya - Kandy

After breakfast you will attend the morning ceremony at the temple in Kandy.
You will then proceed to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya. Walking around the gardens you'll discover a richly diverse vegetation that includes an orchid collection, a giant fig tree, cannonball trees, giant bamboos, cabbage palms, Assam rubber trees and sea coconut trees. You will have the rest of the day to visit Kandy.

Day 7

Kandy - Maussawa

You will spend the day exploring the Maussawa Estate.
This is an idyllic place for nature lovers. After a lovely lunch prepared with local organic produce you can immerse yourself in this preserved environment: walk along the rice paddies, wander around the small streets of the village and even go for a swim in the river!
Dinner and night at the Eco Lanka Villa (or similar).

Day 8

Maussawa - Nuwara Eliya - Ella

You will start the day with a hearty breakfast before driving to Nuwara Eliya.
On the road you will see the tea terraces and stop at a tea factory where you can learn how tea is manufactured. You'll be invited to sample different teas.
On arrival you will discover the town and its history.
You will then hop in a tuk-tuk to Nanu Oya train station, where you will board a local train going to Ella. You will love the epic journey across the tea-covered hills and seeing the many beautiful waterfalls.
The day will end with the ascent of Little Adam's Peak.

Day 9

Ella - Kuda Oya

After breakfast you will leave Ella and drive to the Kuda Oya nature site. Once the camp has been set up, you will get a bike to allow you to meander around the small streets of the village and get close to the villagers.
Here you can discover many species ofbirds. With a bit of luck you can even see elephants!
Dinner and night at the Kuda Oya Camp (or similar).

Day 10

Kuda Oya - Udawalawe

You will leave for Uda Walawe National Park just after breakfast.
You will go on safari in this superb wildlife reserve, which looks very much like an African reserve in terms of habitats and wildlife.
To watch the animals more closely, particularly elephants, you will stop at a reservoir where they come to drink.
Dinner and night at the 4-star Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort (or similar).

Day 11

Udawalawe - Anguruwatota

In the morning you will head for Anguruwatota in a canoe. During this excursion you will navigate on the Kalu Ganga river, making several stops on the way to admire the vegetation, the fauna and see the diamond panners at work.
Lunch will be a picnic by the river.
At the end of the day you can relax in your tent.
The evening will be spent around a campfire and a Sri Lankan family will cook you a traditional meal.

Day 12

Anguruwatota - Colombo

After breakfast you will head back to Colombo. This is the economic capital of Sri Lanka thanks to its port, the largest one in Central Asia.
Discover the city's history through the various architectural styles of each district's buildings such as religious edifices, castles and skyscrapers, or by visiting the National Museum.
Free time for lunch.
Night at the 3-star Lake Lodge (or similar).

Day 13

Colombo - Airport

After breakfast it's time to leave. Your driver will take you to Colombo International Airport.
Arrival in Malé where one of our representatives will meet you, and transfer to your villa by fast boat.

BEACH HOLIDAY in the Maldives
