Day 1

Arrival at the airport and transfer to Negombo

Arrival at Colombo International Airport where you will be met by a representative of our local agency and taken to your hotel in Negombo.
After a short rest, you will go on a boat excursion in the afternoon. During this two-hour trip you will explore nature reserves where an incredible flora and fauna can be seen.
Night at the 3-star Catamaran Beach Hotel (or similar).

Day 2

Peradeniya and Kandy

After breakfast you will head for Kandy. On the way you will stop in Peradeniya to visit the magnificent Royal Botanic Gardens, renowned for their huge variety of plants, flowers and trees.
Once in Kandy you will visit the city, including the market and the famous Temple of the Tooth.
Dinner and night in a private home.

Day 3

Matale and Dambulla

After a good night sleep you will drive towards Dambulla and make a short stop at the Matale spice garden. You will learn all about the origin and uses of various spices grown here such as cinnamon, lemongrass or ginger.
Late afternoon you will go to Dambulla and discover the famous Golden Temple and its five magnificent caves adorned with murals representing Buddha.
Night at the 3-star Pelwehera Village Resort (or similar).

Day 4

Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa

After breakfast, departure for Sigiriya where a marvel of nature, Lion Rock, awaits. The visit and the ascent to the top last two to three hours.
You will then head towards Polonnaruwa and have lunch in a private home. You will also have the opportunity to visit a school. In the afternoon you'll explore the renowned Polonnaruwa archaeological site, where you can see monuments such as the former Royal Palace, a temple dedicated to Shiva and tall statues of Buddha. You will reach your hotel late afternoon.
Night at the 3-star Hotel Sudu Araliya (or similar).

Day 5

Departure for the eastern coast

After breakfast you will head for the eastern coast of the island, which features wonderful beaches.

Day 6

Passikudah

Today is all about relaxation. Opportunity to go scuba diving.

Day 7

Arugam Bay

After breakfast you will drive to the renowned beach resort and national surfing spot of Arugam Bay. On the way you will make a short stop in Batticaloa to visit a Hindu temple. You will get to your hotel in the afternoon.
Night at the 3-star Arugam Bay Surfing Resort (or similar).

Day 8

Arugam Bay and departure for Yala

After breakfast you can go surfing. Early afternoon you will go to the famous nature reserve in Yala.

Day 9

Yala and Ella

A very early start for Yala National Park, where you will go on safari to discover impressive wildlife. You will then make a short stop at a farm to enjoy a local lunch.
After lunch you will drive to Ella, a village in a beautiful mountainous region. You will climb up Little Adam's Peak surrounded by tea plantations.
Night at the 4-star 98 Acres Resort (or similar).

Day 10

Ella - Bambarakanda and Balangoda

After breakfast you will hop on a local train to reach the start of a long hike. During the journey you will see the highest waterfalls on the island, set in unforgettable landscapes. The hike itself lasts between four and five hours. You will walk across forests and rice paddies where you can meet the local people.
Your efforts will be rewarded with a nice lunch in a private home.
In the afternoon you will check into a charming guest house where you can spend time relaxing and playing traditional games. There will be a cookery class at 6 p.m.
Dinner and night at the 2-star Water Garden Hotel (or similar).

Day 11

Balangoda - Opanayake and Sinharaja

You will go on a walk close to the village to meet the local people. Then you will head for Sinharaja Forest Reserve. On the way you will visit a gemstone mining operation and get a brief overview of the mining process.
Dinner and night at the 4-star Rain Forest Lodge (or similar).

Day 12

Ratnapura and Anguruwatota

After breakfast you will go to the city of Ratnapura where you can visit an important local market. You will then be taken to the departure point of a thrilling canoe trip. You will go down one of the island's longest rivers, the Kalu Ganga river, for two to three hours. Several stops are scheduled on the way.
Dinner and night at the Anguruwatota campground. Dinner will consist of typical local dishes prepared by a Sri Lankan family; you will spend the evening by the campfire.

Day 13

Anguruwatota and Balapitiya

In the morning you will go for a walk in the village. You will have the opportunity to cycle to Bentota, a town situated nearby. Later you will visit a turtle and reptile farm. Finally, you will spend the night either in an orphanage or a monastery to gain further insight into Sri Lanka.
Dinner and night at Balapitiya monastery or orphanage (in single-sex dormitories).

Day 14

Colombo and transfer to the airport

After breakfast you will enjoy a guided visit of Colombo, the economic capital, where you can see Gangaramaya Temple and the National Museum. Then you will be taken to Colombo International Airport.

This is a private tour so you will be on your own (as a couple, a family or a group of friends, etc.) and your driver guide will escort you for the duration of your stay;
