Day 1

Colombo - Habarana - Minneriya

Arrival at Colombo International Airport where you will be met by a representative of our local agency.
Transfer to the hotel and time to get settled.
In the afternoon you will go for a thrilling jeep safari in Minneriya National Park.
Dinner and night at the 3-star Joe's Bungalow (or similar).

Day 2

Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa

In the morning you will enjoy discovering the famed city of Sigiriya. The visit starts with the royal pleasure gardens, remnants of the former city situated at the base of Lion Rock. After walking past the enormous lion's paws guarding the access to the fortress, hikers will be rewarded by spectacular views over the surrounding forest and glimpse the domes of white stupas in the distance.
You will then visit the archaeological site of Polonnaruwa, where you can admire monuments such as the statue of King Parakramabahu, the former Royal Palace, the audience hall, the royal baths, the relic room, the Gal Potha (an eight-meter tall stone book), the temple dedicated to Shiva and Gal Vihara, with the four statues of Buddha.

Day 3

Kandy

After breakfast you will head for Kandy. You will stop at a spice garden, where you can learn everything about the origin, cultivation and uses of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, lemongrass, cocoa and other spices.
Once in Kandy you will explore this iconic Sri Lankan city, most notably the Temple of the Tooth, and see many other interesting sanctuaries.
Dinner and night at the 3-star Paradise Kandy (or similar).

Day 4

Pinnawala - Peradeniya

After breakfast an outing to Pinnawala's renowned elephant orphanage has been organised. You will see how baby elephants are fed and attend the elephants' river bath at 10 a.m. Elephants living at the orphanage usually end up there because they were excluded from the herd, or their mother died, or their natural habitat was destroyed.
You will then amble around the alleyways of the Peradeniya Royal Botanic Gardens, the largest of their kind in Sri Lanka and filled with exotic trees and flowers.  The orchid collection is particularly splendid and there is an impressive avenue of palms planted in 1950. The visit ends with the giant Java fig tree.
The gardens display other gorgeous plants including cannonball trees, cabbage palms, sea coconut trees bearing fruit that can weigh 10 to 20 kilos, giant bamboos, Assam rubber trees and a sausage tree (Kigelia pinnata).

Day 5

Maussawa

After breakfast you will head for the “green gold” hills of Maussawa. The Maussawa Estate is an authentic site in the heart of Sri Lankan biodiversity. You can meet the villagers, stroll along the rivers and rice paddies and enjoy the magnificent natural surroundings. This is a peace haven where you can also sample delicious dishes made with produce from our organic gardens.
Dinner and night at the Eco Lanka Villa (or similar).

Day 6

Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast you will experiment with a new way of travelling and go to Watagoda train station to board a local trainmany waterfalls.
After this short trip you will visit tea plantations as well as a tea factory, where you will learn about the various processes involved in manufacturing tea. This will be followed by a tea tasting. The afternoon will be spent ambling around the city of Nuwara Eliya.
Dinner and night at the3-star Oak-Ray Summer Hill Breeze Hotel (or similar).

Day 7

Nuwara Eliya – Colombo

You will go to Colombo after breakfast.
The afternoon will be spent visiting Colombo,with a choice of visits including the Fort, the Pettah area, a Hindu temple, a Buddhist temple, the new Parliament and the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
Dinner and night at the 4-star Ramada Katunayake (or similar).

Day 8

Colombo - Flight home

After breakfast you'll have plenty of free time to amble around Colombo for your last souvenir purchases or visit other sites or neighbourhoods.
You will then have lunch before being transferred to theairport to fly home.

This is a private tour so you will be on your own (as a couple, a family or a group of friends, etc.) and your driver guide will escort you for the duration of your stay;
