Day 1

Arrival at the airport - Colombo

Arrival at Colombo International Airport where you will be met by a representative of our local agency and taken to your hotel in Negombo. In the afternoon you will visit this former fishing village.
Dinner and night at the 4-star St Lachlan Hotel (or similar).

Day 2

Chilaw - Yapahuwa - Haththikuchcha and Anuradhapura

After breakfast you will take the coastal road to Chilaw and pass through several small fishing villages. You will then visit Chilaw.
Later you will drive to Yapahuwa where you can see the Munneswaram Hindu temple and the Panduwasnuwara Buddhist Temple. You will then head for Haththikuchcha to visit an ancient Buddhist monastery as well as other ancient ruins.  Late afternoon you will reach Anuradhapura and go to the hotel.

Day 3

Anuradhapura and Sigiriya

Morning visit of Anuradhapura, a former capital of the Sinhalese kingdom with an enchanting quality. Here you can see the oldest tree in the world and discover the archaeological park – a World Heritage Site – then go to the Mihintale pilgrimage site. You will head for Sigiriya, stopping first in Aukana to admire the standing statue of Buddha.
In Sigiriya you will climb up Lion Rock and admire the fortress at the summit, which is also a World Heritage Site. To round up the day you will visit a batik workshop.

Day 4

Polonnaruwa - Minneriya

After a hearty breakfast you will head for Polonnaruwa to visit the archaeological site, as well as the lesser-known site of Medirigiriya. In the former capital of Polonnaruwa you can see the statue of King Parakramabahu, the former Royal Palace, the audience hall, the royal baths, the relic room and the temple dedicated to Shiva. In the afternoon you will go on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park to watch wild elephants.

Day 5

Dambulla and Kandy

The next stage on your itinerary is Kandy, although several stops are scheduled on the way to give you the opportunity to interact with the local people. You will stop briefly in Dambulla to visit the Golden Temple, where exquisite Buddhist murals adorn the walls. You will then discover a spice garden where you will learn everything about cinnamon, ginger or lemongrass.
On arrival in Kandy you'll have time to get settled at your hotel. Later you will attend the evening ceremony at the renowned Temple of the Tooth
Dinner and night at the 3.5-star Thilanka Hotel in a Deluxe room (or similar).

Day 6

Pinnawala and Kandy

In the morning you will visit the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala. You can see how the youngest baby elephants get fed and also attend their river bathing session. It's then time to discover the nearby Peradeniya Royal Botanic Gardens where you can see incredible exotic flowers. In the afternoon you will amble around the streets ofKandy. Don't miss the traditional dance performances and the impressive fire walking demonstration in the evening.

Day 7

Nuwara Eliya

You will head for Nuwara Eliya on a road cutting across the amazing tea-growing region. You will stop several times to meet the local people and watch the tea pickers as they work in the fields. You will then visit a plantation and a tea factory, where you can enjoy a tea tasting at the end of your tour. In the afternoon, stroll around Nuwara Eliya and the park and do a spot of shopping if you wish.

Day 8

Nuwara Eliya and Bandarawela

In the morning you will leave for Bandarawela. You'll stop at the Nuwara Eliya botanic gardens on the way, then further on to admire Duhinda Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Late afternoon you will reach the town of Bandarawela.

Day 9

Kataragama and Yala

After breakfast you will drive to Kataragama. You will stop on the way to admire the Buddha of Buduruwagala – the tallest statue in Sri Lanka – and visit the ruins of Yudaganawa. You will round up the day with a safari in Yala National Park.
Dinner and night at the 3-star Hotel Chandrika (or similar).

Day 10

Kataragama and Galle

In the morning you will explore the pilgrimage town of Kataragama and its famous monuments, then head for Galle. You'll have the entire afternoon to amble around the quaint streets of Galle and explore its fascinating heritage.

Day 11 - 12

Bentota

You will drive to Bentota in the morning and remain free in the afternoon to enjoy the beach. The next day will also be a free day. Many optional excursions will be on offer.

Bentota - airport

Departure from the hotel and transfer to Colombo International Airport.
