Day 1

Arrival at the airport - Negombo

Arrival at Colombo International Airport where you will be met by a representative of our local agency and taken to your hotel in Negombo, where you can freshen up and get some rest. You can then enjoy a free afternoon to relax or visit the town of Negombo.
Dinner and night at the 3-star St Lachlan Hotel (or similar).

Day 2

Negombo - Pinnawala and Dambulla

After breakfast you will drive to Pinnawala to visit the elephant orphanage (around 2 h 30 min driving time). This excursion will enable you to see how the baby elephants are fed and to watch them have a bath in the river.
You will then head for the renowned Cultural Triangle. You will stop at Dambulla's great produce market and enjoy its many flavours and aromas! You will also visit the Golden Temple in Dambulla late afternoon.
Dinner and night at the 4-star Sigiriya Village (or similar).

Day 3

Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa and return to Sigiriya

You will go to Sigiriya's Lion Rock after breakfast. The view over the Sri Lankan valleys from the top of this impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site is extraordinary. Be prepared to climb quite a few steps to reach the summit!
You will then head for Polonnaruwa. Also classified as a World Heritage Site, this city became the capital of Sri Lanka after Anuradhapura. Here you will discover historical remains such as the former Royal Palace, the audience hall, the relic room and statues of Buddha.
Dinner and night at the 4-star Sigiriya Village (or similar).

Day 4

Matale and Knuckles

You will leave Sigiriya for Kandy and stop on the way to visit a spice garden, where you can learn all about well-known spices such as cinnamon. Then you'll be off to Hunnasgiriya via Wattegama, where you will go for a hike.
After this beautiful walk you will drive on to the Knuckles mountain range where you can get settled in a charming bungalow.
Dinner and night at the Dumbanagala Chalet (or similar).

Day 5

Visit of Kandy and Peradeniya

After a good night sleep and a great breakfast you will go to Kandy. In the morning you will visit this beguiling city, then drive to Peradeniya where you'll spend the afternoon ambling around the town and the Royal Botanic Gardens, renowned for their rich diversity.
Early evening you will get to see a traditional dance performance and a thrilling fire walking demonstration. Back at the hotel you will have the opportunity to get anAyurvedic massage for a well-deserved rest.
Dinner and night at the 3.5-star Thilanka Hotel (or similar).

Day 6

Visit of Maussawa

After breakfast you will drive to Maussawa and the “green gold” hills.  Once you get to the estate you will discover an extraordinary nature site, where you will also have the opportunity to meet Sri Lankan people and have a good time with them! You will then taste a variety of dishes mostly made with home-grown organic produce.
Dinner and night at the Eco Lanka Villa (or similar).

Day 7

Nuwara Eliya and Ella

You will leave Maussawa in the morning and head towards Nuwara Eliya, also known as “Little England'”. On the way you will walk around the tea fields and visit a tea factory.
Your visit of Nuwara Eliya will take place before lunch. Several stops are scheduled to discover the real heart of Sri Lanka and meet the population.
Dinner and night at Hotel Heaven's Edge (or similar).

Day 8

Buduruwagala and Yala

In the morning you will head south. A first stop in Buduruwagala will enable you to admire the largest statue of Buddha on the island. You will then enjoy a typical local lunch on an agricultural estate.
Later you will drive to Yala National Parkfor an afternoon safari, watching all kinds of wildlife and birds.
Dinner and night at the 3-star Elephant Reach Hotel (or similar).

Day 9

Galle and Colombo

You will leave Yala and drive to the cultural city of Galle. You will visit the city early afternoon, then go to Colombo and enjoy free time for dinner.
Night at the 3-star Lake Lodge B&B (or similar).

Day 10

Flight home

Departure for Colombo International Airport after breakfast.

The price includes :

  • Airport transfers on arrival/departure and 24/7 assistance;
  • Transport in an air-conditioned vehicle for airport transfers, for the tour itself and the visit of sites with an English-speaking driver guide. This is a private tour so you will be on your own (as a couple, a family or a group of friends, etc.) and your driver guide will escort you for the duration of your stay;
  • Hotel accommodation as stated in the itinerary (half board basis, except the last day);
  • Entrance fees for the sites mentioned in the tour notes;
  • Photography permits except at the Temple of the Tooth of Buddha.
